Are you like me and you LOVE to bake at the holidays? Are you also like me and find it nearly impossible to stay out of all the delicious goodies that seem to multiply overnight? If so, I've found a way to have your cake and eat it too! (Of course, I had to throw in that sweets reference!)
A Sweet Surprise For Friends and Family!
Why not bake all of your favorite cookies and place several of each flavor into baskets or on festive holiday plates. You can then load the kids up in the car, and drive to the homes of those closest to you and leave the cookies on their front porch! The kids will love to be a part of this; ringing the doorbell and running away is always good for a laugh with the kids in our house! Add some Christmas music on the radio, hot chocolate, (in lidded cups, of course!) and some impressive outdoor Christmas light displays, and you've got yourself a little family party!
Remember to send along a little card, as well, so your friends know who sent the treats, allowing them to be comfortable in knowing the treats are safe to eat. I designed this little card for my family this year. You can have fun designing your own, or you can download mine for free here! I plan on leaving a little handwritten note on the back, with our names (again, so people feel comfortable!) because you can't beat a handwritten note! Tie this on to your cookies with a cute ribbon, or a piece of twine and you're sure to please your friends!
I really hope you'll give this a try with your own children! I've found that the little things like this seem to make my kids happier than some of the biggest gifts they've received!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
P.S. If your recipe box could use an overhaul, why not head here and purchase a copy of our downloadable Holiday Sweets Cookbook? 100% of the proceeds will be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital as part of their Thanks and Giving campaign!

Oh what a sweet idea! We just moved to a new town and don't have family close, but will definitely tuck this idea away for a time that we can do this!!
Paula
Thanks, Paula! I was checking out your blog the other day and I noticed you said you sold a home in the STL area! You're probably not too far away from me! :)
LOVE this idea ;)
Now that's funny! Was just reading this post and thinking what a great idea! And then I read the comments and found another Paula who lived in St. Louis! LOL I lived and loved living in STL for 3 years, was in Creve Coeur to be exact and visit about twice a year. Love how quickly you are building up your blog and fan base. Way to go and happy holidays! :) The "other" Paula
